Your Impact
As a Senior QESH Expert, you will serve as a subject matter expert in the field of  Quality, Environment, Safety & Health (QESH)  at our production site in Heerlen. You will operate independently, with significant professional autonomy, within the frameworks and priorities established by the QESSH Manager, and will have a direct impact on people’s safety, product quality, and our “license to operate.”

In this role, you will be part of the QESSH team at the Heerlen site.

You will translate laws, regulations, and corporate guidelines into concrete, workable solutions and ensure that risks are identified, assessed, and managed in a timely manner. In doing so, you will actively contribute to a safe, compliant, and future‑proof organization.

In addition, you will serve as a coach and sparring partner for colleagues, challenge management and employees to continuously improve, and contribute to the consistent application of policies and standards at the site.

What will you be doing?

Translate the QESH strategy and objectives into concrete actions and improvement programs, in consultation with the QESSH manager

Advise, influence, and challenge management and employees

Serve as a subject matter expert and role model

(Process) Safety

Provide advice and support in the area of process safety, including risk analyses (e.g., HAZOP, MSA, QRA)

Lead incident investigations and root cause analyses

Assess the SHE aspects of changes in the Management of Change (MOC) gatekeeping process

Compliance & Permits

Monitoring and enforcing laws and regulations (including Seveso)

Advising and providing support on permitting matters, including preparing and updating permits

Maintaining contact with regulators and external stakeholders

Audits & Reporting

Coordinating internal audits and assisting with external inspections

Translating findings into structural improvements

Preparing management reports and statutory reports

Quality Assurance

Serve as Quality Assurance Officer

Provide advice and support in developing validation and qualification plans, and in reviewing and approving validation and qualification reports. Support quality improvement initiatives and projects

Promote a strong safety culture through substantive leadership, exemplary behavior, and coaching

Initiate and support programs in the areas of behaviour and leadership

You will work at a dynamic production site with a complex risk profile (Seveso site). You will interact frequently with operations, maintenance, engineering, and external parties. While you will not hold a formal managerial position, you will have significant substantive influence on the organization and decision‑making. You will report to the QESSH Manager and, as a senior expert within the QESSH team, work closely with other disciplines on site.

Responsibilities

Supports the vision, mission and guiding principles of the company.

Ensures all associates and contract personnel understand applicable Safety, Health and Environmental policies, procedures and guidelines.

Develops and maintains facility safety and environmental procedures that support corporate and regulatory requirements. Assists line and staff management to understand regulations and standards.

Keeps apprised of developments in federal, state, county and city safety laws likely to affect company.

Responsible for industrial hygiene and medical monitoring programs for the plant.

Ensures all incidents are reported to the required departments/agencies and all documents are distributed.

Maintains facility safety files and records.

Completes all local, state and federal environmental reports to ensure plant compliance.

Develops and implements audit systems which focus on accountability and corrective actions.

Develops programs to improve plant safety performance in order to meet plant goals.
