We are currently seeking a hands-on and proactive Facility / Maintenance Engineer to support a large, technically complex site in Heerlen. This is a fully on-site position within a fast-paced operational environment.
Role Overview
This role is ideal for a technically strong professional with an electrical or mechanical background , who enjoys working close to real-world systems and supporting the daily operation and continuous improvement of facilities and infrastructure.
You will combine hands-on technical work with coordination of maintenance activities and smaller projects , working closely with internal teams and external suppliers.
Key Responsibilities
Perform and support maintenance and repair activities on building systems, equipment, and infrastructure
Conduct inspections, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance to ensure operational continuity
Read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and layouts
Support facility modifications and improvement projects (planning, coordination, execution)
Work with external contractors and suppliers , including reviewing quotes and scope of work
Assist with budget estimates, planning, and scheduling for maintenance and small projects
Ensure compliance with health & safety and site standards
Provide technical support and guidance within the team where required
Experience & Qualifications
~4–8 years of experience in:
Maintenance engineering
Facilities / building systems
Or technical site-based environments
Background in electrical or mechanical engineering / technician work (essential)
Strong hands-on experience with:
Troubleshooting and maintenance
Technical installations / systems
Ability to work independently in a dynamic, operational environment
Experience working with contractors / suppliers is a strong plus
Exposure to technical projects or improvements is beneficial
English required;
Dutch or German is a plus
