Position OverviewHelena College is seeking a full‑time, tenure‑track Education Instructor for the Donaldson Campus, beginning August 2026 for the 2026–2027 academic year. The College partners with the University of Montana and the University of Montana Western to provide students opportunities to complete their bachelors in Elementary and Secondary Education. This new position will lead education program development and growth.
Duties & Responsibilities- Teach the following courses:
EDU 201 Introduction to Education with Field Experience
, EDU 222 Educational Psychology and Child Development
, EDU 231 Literacy and Literature for Children
, EDU 297 Methods: K‑8 Music
, ARTZ 102 Fundamentals of Art for Elementary Teachers
, HEE 202 Instructional Strategies in Elementary Physical Education
, HTH 201 Health Issues for Educators
. - Teach First Year Seminar courses as needed (e.g.,
COLS 101 First Year Seminar
). - Maintain a regular on‑campus presence and build relationships with students, colleagues, and transfer partners.
- Deliver 30–32 credits per academic year (typically five courses per semester).
- Ensure effective instruction through student evaluation, learning outcome assessment, and departmental and institutional planning.
- Utilize Canvas LMS for grading and instructional purposes.
- Participate in professional development and college service activities.
- Collaborate with full‑time and adjunct faculty within the program.
- Engage in institutional functions such as college committees, student clubs, internships, recruitment, budget development, program promotion, and collaboration with academic and student affairs.
- Design and assess curriculum at the course and program level.
- Use a variety of teaching methods (lecture, group discussions, case studies, etc.) to enhance student understanding.
- Conduct assessment of student learning and course/program outcomes.
- Commitment to Helena College’s mission, vision, and strategic goals.
- Foster an inclusive learning environment that values diversity.
- Employ interpersonal and communication skills to build relationships with a diverse stakeholder base.
- Apply effective teaching strategies and technology to enhance student success.
- Seek opportunities for continual improvement and collaboration in inclusive settings.
- Master’s degree in Education or a related program (equivalent combination of education and experience considered).
- Ability to maintain a regular, physical presence on the Helena College Donaldson campus.
- Doctoral degree in Education or a related program.
- Prior teaching experience at the two‑year college level (two years preferred).
- Experience teaching online and using a Learning Management System (Canvas, Moodle, D2L, etc.) and educational technology.
- Letter of Interest addressing qualifications related to required skills.
- Detailed resume listing education and work experience.
- Unofficial transcripts acceptable with application; official transcripts due upon hire.
- Three professional references with names and contact information.
