Helena College is seeking qualified applicants who wish to join a dynamic & creative team for a part‑time position as an Occupational Therapy Assistant Instructor.

Teaching & Instructional Duties
  • Maintain a teaching load per semester as assigned.
  • Maintain and demonstrate subject‑matter expertise.
  • Utilize the Learning Management System (LMS) as a tool to deliver course content and provide formative feedback to learners.
  • Maintain clinical expertise for teaching OTA courses, labs, and fieldwork. Must possess and maintain documented expertise in areas of instruction and in course delivery methods.
  • Actively participate in program activities, including team meetings, lectures, labs, field trips, guest lectures, and fieldwork, as appropriate and assigned.
  • Evaluate students to measure their progress in achieving course goals; inform students promptly of their progress.
  • Maintain student records of attendance or skill‑competency documents as needed.
  • Participate in professional development activities and staff development in assigned instructional areas.
  • Demonstrate effective changes to personal teaching strategies, based upon faculty and student feedback and evaluations.
  • Strictly adhere to policies and procedures within the OTA Program, Helena College, and clinical sites.
  • Attend faculty meetings determined by the program director or department.
  • Engage and document participation in professional development and in‑service training for learning management systems, pedagogy, and educational teaching methodologies.
Student Interaction
  • Maintain active responsibilities with advising and mentoring OTA students.
  • Assist with admissions activities and prospective student advising.
  • Mentor and support students through coursework and fieldwork preparation.
  • Participate in recruitment events, community engagement, and graduation.
  • Serve as a point of contact for student inquiries and concerns.
Program Development
  • Actively participate in curriculum and program development and program assessment.
  • Engage in program meetings, faculty collaboration, and process improvement.
  • Provide documented assessments of clinical education sites and educators.
  • Participate in professional development aligned with OTA education and ACOTE expectations.
  • Maintain continuing education (CE) hours to ensure renewed OTA licensure.

Education & Credentialing
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant.
  • Must hold a valid, unencumbered license to practice Occupational Therapy Assistant in Montana.
  • Must be initially certified by NBCOT.
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license.
Experience
  • Minimum of 1 year of documented experience in the field of occupational therapy or equivalent experience and competency defined by the institution, which must include:
    • Clinical practice experience as a COTA.
    • Experience working with occupational therapy assistants.
Preferred Education & Credentialing
  • Current and maintained NBCOT certification.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience in a variety of practice settings.
  • Experience teaching.
  • Experience working in higher education.
Work Schedule

Part‑time, up to 19 hours a week, Monday through Friday. Hours and schedule may vary depending on the needs of the program.
