Power Distribution Engineer
Job Status: Exempt‑salaried
Location: Montana locations (Billings, Bozeman, Great Falls, Helena, Kalispell, Missoula) and Spokane, WA. Relocation assistance may be provided.

As a Power Distribution Engineer, you’ll play a vital role in keeping communities connected and resilient. From planning and designing to consulting on distribution projects, you’ll work closely with local power co‑ops on initiatives such as pole replacements, underground utilities, joint‑use analysis, and transmission line improvements.
Responsibilities- Provide technical design support on medium voltage projects related to overhead and underground power lines, substations, and utility pole design.
- Conduct system modeling, coordination studies, and design calculations with co‑op clients and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Apply appropriate codes and regulations in design work.
- Consult with clients on project needs and conduct project analyses to develop design options.
- Write/edit technical specifications.
- Perform QA/QC on the work of other Electrical Engineers, Electrical Coordinators, or Technicians.
- Coordinate with and assist affected disciplines with addenda, RFIs, and change orders, and take responsibility for incorporating agreed‑upon changes into the project documents.
- Participate in field reviews or construction observation.
- Assist with preparing construction cost estimates and construction administration support.
- Collaborate with the electrical design team on large institutional/industrial projects through the schematic design development and construction document phases of a project.
- Provide exceptional client service.

- Bachelor’s degree in civil, mechanical, or electrical engineering or a similar engineering degree from an ABET‑accredited institution.
- 2+ years of experience with utility line and power distribution design projects within the consulting space.
- Engineer‑In‑Training (EIT) professional designation preferred or willing to obtain soon after hire.
- Software experience including AutoCAD, ArcGIS, and pole loading analysis software.
- High‑level written and verbal communication skills required.
- A valid driver’s license and an insurable driving record required for periodic travel.
