We are seeking a Municipal Engineer Project Manager to join our Helena Municipal Group. This is a high-impact leadership role for an experienced municipal engineer ready to lead planning, design, permitting, and construction oversight for water, wastewater, and civil infrastructure projects across Montana.
This position requires strong technical expertise, project management capabilities, and direct client-facing experience. Ideal candidates will have senior-level engineering depth and a proven history of managing municipal projects in Montana.
Key Requirements- E4 level or higher
- 7+ years of relevant municipal engineering experience
- Active Montana PE license (required)
- Willingness to work in Helena, Great Falls, or Billings
- Strong project management experience across municipal water/wastewater systems
- Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage client relationships
- Lead municipal engineering projects from planning through construction
- Oversee design of water distribution, wastewater collection, stormwater, wells, pipes, and civil site improvements
- Prepare engineering reports, calculations, design documents, and project specifications
- Manage project scope, schedule, budget, and client expectations
- Coordinate with agencies, municipal clients, and stakeholders to obtain approvals
- Provide technical leadership and mentor junior engineers
- Support business development and proposal efforts
- Conduct site visits, field evaluations, and construction oversight when required
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Civil preferred)
- 7+ years of experience in municipal water and wastewater engineering
- Montana PE license required
- Proven ability to manage municipal projects independently
- Experience working with local and rural water systems preferred
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
