The Governor’s Office is seeking a Policy Advisor specializing in Education and Tax Policy to join our Policy Team. This role is critical to advancing the Governor’s priorities in K-12 and higher education, workforce development, and state tax policy. As a trusted advisor, you will help shape and implement policy initiatives that impact Montana’s schools, families, and economy.
Key Responsibilities- Analyze and develop policy proposals related to K-12 and higher education, workforce development, and state tax policy.
- Prepare briefing materials and advise the Governor, Lt. Governor, and on education, workforce, and tax issues.
- Build relationships with constituents, school districts, educators, legislators, and business leaders to advance the Governor’s agenda.
- Draft and monitor legislation; testify before legislative committees on priority bills.
- Coordinate with state agencies, including the Department of Revenue, Department of Labor and Industry, and Office of Public Instruction, to implement policy changes.
- Represent the Governor at education, labor, and tax policy forums, conferences, and stakeholder meetings.
- Strong understanding of education systems and tax policy.
- Experience in policy development, legislative processes, or government relations.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and negotiation skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
