Registered Respiratory Therapist

The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) is responsible for evaluating, treating, and reassessing patients of all ages in accordance with physician orders and hospital policies.

This role involves performing respiratory care procedures, assisting healthcare teams, and ensuring high-quality patient care.

The therapist also plays a key role in emergency response teams, patient education, and departmental initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform respiratory care procedures following established hospital and departmental policies.
• Evaluate, treat, and re-assess patients in accordance with physician orders.
• Assist physicians and nursing staff in determining and applying appropriate therapeutic modalities.
• Participate in Code Team and Rapid Response Team activities.
• Provide education to patients and their families on respiratory care treatments.
• Assist in training and orienting respiratory and nursing personnel.
• Support Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) initiatives within the department.
• Transport patients as needed.
• Assist the Director with special projects, equipment management, and stock inventory control.
• Ensure patient rights to care, privacy, and respect are maintained.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Current licensure as a Respiratory Therapist in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) certification from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
