About The Role
The Computer Operator will provide data center operational support for daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly processing tasks. This includes critical support of major bank accounting software systems and all other applications within GBCI’s processing suite, with severe consequences if errors or timing delays occur. The role is responsible for monitoring online processing and for running various reports related to data center operations, as well as providing support to bank employees over the phone and through e‑mail.
The position also supports the employee self‑service platform and handles various tasks and incidents related to internal software systems.
This is a corporate position located in Helena, MT. The entry‑rate for this position is $22.32+ per hour (calculated for Helena, MT). All compensation offers are analyzed individually and take into consideration multiple factors including geographic location, years of experience, and educational background.
Responsibilities- Run and monitor batch processing and file transmissions for all banks in the organization to ensure all jobs and transmissions are run as scheduled.
- Ensure all issues are handled per procedures and maintain accuracy and timeliness, given the severe consequences of errors or timing delays.
- Perform problem determination and create problem tickets for data center hardware and ATM units; create hardware service calls with vendors and/or coordinate with designated IT or branch personnel for resolution. Monitor vendor service calls to ensure timely repair.
- Monitor computer systems and peripheral equipment for alarms and error messages; communicate equipment malfunctions to supervisor, IT personnel, and/or service vendor as appropriate.
- Run and monitor all Month End, Quarter End, and Year End jobs and manage the distribution of their output.
- Assist and respond to help‑desk requests and participate in special projects. Create queries, reports, new database development, and/or changes to existing ones.
- Assist with test runs for performance and accuracy of new programs and changes to existing programs; help with test prints of new and revised forms.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures and all applicable laws and regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.
- Complete the assigned online training courses and achieve a passing score by the due date.
- High School Diploma or GED (required).
- Minimum of 3 years of computer support experience in IT (required).
- Ability to perform relevant work with an equivalent combination of education and experience considered.
- Licenses or certifications not required.
- Courtesy and tact are essential for dealing with customers and others; communications are typically brief and routine.
- Working knowledge of operating a computer and peripheral equipment such as printers, tape drives, and disc drives.
- Basic understanding of computer concepts to operate various equipment.
- Ability to work independently, often as the sole person on a shift, and to complete work promptly.
- Attention to detail and ability to work under strict deadlines.
- Professional verbal and written communication skills.
- Exposure to sensitive information; must exercise tact, diplomacy, and judgment.
