Description of Position
In support of MCF’s mission, the Communications Manager is an integral part of a team of professionals dedicated to serving Montana through philanthropy. This position is a non-exempt staff position that reports to the Marketing and Communications Director. As a key member of the Marketing and Communications department, the Communications Manager supports all aspects of communication, content production, and targeted outreach.
This position helps to promote and disseminate key Foundation messages through publications, web platforms, videos, social media, events, and marketing campaigns.

- Develops content and designs and disseminates information through appropriate channels including print, electronic, and public relations:
- Online newsletters
- Articles
- Marketing materials and publications
- Manages fundraising efforts and outreach through appeals, online fundraising campaigns, and mailings, soliciting content from internal sources, and manage review, testing, and sending for the following funds/departments:
- The Women’s Foundation of Montana
- All funds pertaining to endowments, grants and scholarships
- Gift and Estate Planning
- Annual Endowment Distribution
- Manages the creation, editing, design, and production of the MCF and WFM annual impact reports, including planning, developing content, coordinating with stakeholders, editing, and ensuring timely delivery to align with the organization's mission and brand.
- Collaborates with various departments to manage and build stakeholder lists for communication purposes.
- Develop toolkits that empower constituents with the skills to support their marketing and communications efforts.
- Manages website development and content management for MCF and WFM webpages.
- Supports social media management and efforts related to posting, campaigns, strategy, and targeting.
- Monitors website and social media analytics, performance, and search rankings, adjusting strategy based on insights.
- Executes digital fundraising and engagement campaigns via email, website, and social media.
- Ensures all messaging aligns with MCF’s brand identity and strategic objectives.
- Works with the Marketing and Communications Director and program staff to establish effective communication strategies and useful metrics.
- Manages brand guidelines, from updating to implementation.
- Coordinates the appearance and production of MCF print materials such as letterhead, brochures, etc. and ensures items are adequately stocked.
- Manages technical assistance and resource materials to assist professional advisors and local community foundations in the marketing, communications and positioning of their activities.
- Supports the department in event planning and coordination, including communications and design of content.
- Contributes to overall digital content strategy and informs calendar of upcoming topics, news and milestones, and external opportunities to guide content planning.
- At the discretion of the Marketing and Communications Director, review and edit media releases, editorials, and campaigns.
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Education and Experience- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in marketing, graphic design, communications, public relations, or journalism.
