The role

As a Senior Electrical Design Engineer, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You'll join a newly established Safe to Operate team supporting one of the United Kingdom's most important defence environments. This is a unique opportunity to apply your technical expertise to the assessment, safety and compliance of critical infrastructure that supports national defence operations.

Day-to-day responsibilities
  • Review asset management information and technical documentation relating to electrical building services and infrastructure systems.
  • Undertake inspections and assessments of building electrical systems to evaluate compliance, safety and operational effectiveness.
  • Analyse electrical inspection and testing reports, identifying risks, defects and non-conformances against applicable standards and regulations.
  • Collaborate with operational teams, technical specialists and key stakeholders to gather information and support safe-to-operate assessments.
  • Identify and raise legislative, regulatory or health and safety concerns, helping drive improvements across critical infrastructure assets.

This role is full time, 36 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements.

Essential experience
  • Comprehensive understanding of electrical engineering principles and their application within complex environments.
  • Technical experience with electrical building services systems and infrastructure assets.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical legislation, regulations and standards including Electricity at Work Regulations and Wiring Regulations.
  • Experience reviewing and interpreting electrical inspection and testing certification, including defect classification and risk assessment.
  • Ability to assess compliance and identify opportunities to improve safety, reliability and operational performance.
Qualifications
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering, with relevant professional experience.
  • City and Guilds 2391 (Periodic Inspection and Testing) or equivalent qualification.
  • Registered with, or working towards registration with, the Engineering Council.
  • City and Guilds 2396 (Design, Erection and Verification) or equivalent qualification - desirable
Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
