Civil Engineer

Purpose: We are seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to join a multi‑disciplinary engineering team operating within an Approval Authority environment. The role supports both current operations and future programmes, contributing to the delivery and assurance of critical infrastructure within a highly regulated environment.

• Author, develop, assess, maintain and manage engineering design substantiation documentation
• Produce and manage design change and concession documentation
• Present design substantiation to formal nuclear safety governance and assurance committees
• Develop and maintain Examination, Inspection, Maintenance & Testing (EIMT) schedules and associated procedures
• Produce and assess Periodic Review of Safety (PRS) reports
• Provide technical advice and direction to internal and external stakeholders
• Produce scopes of work for Independent Technical Assessments and Independent Peer Reviews
• Apply general and specialist civil/structural engineering knowledge, including emerging technologies
• Undertake design, assessment and through‑life support of assets within a nuclear/high‑risk environment
• Produce robust technical justifications for civil/structural design modifications
• Review external contractor submissions, safety cases and technical reports
• Check and peer‑review calculations and technical documentation produced by colleagues

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in the design and assessment of reinforced concrete and steel structures subject to dynamic loading (e.g. seismic, blast, wind, snow and environmental loads)
• Experience working with reinforced concrete structures Proven ability to produce robust technical justifications for design modifications in a high‑hazard industry
• Experience applying theoretical and practical engineering methods throughout the full asset lifecycle
• Ability to combine general and specialist engineering knowledge in complex environments
• Strong knowledge of British Standards, Eurocodes, and relevant structural design codes
