Overview
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is one of the largest healthcare systems in the United Kingdom, employing approximately 40,000 staff across clinical and non-clinical roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health services to a population of over 1.15 million people, and 2.2 million when regional and national services are included.
The roleNHSGGC (2016) Community Mental Health Team (CMHT) Operational Framework defines the CMHT as part of a whole-system approach to mental health services for adults and older adults. The CMHT works in conjunction with Primary Care Mental Health Teams (PCMHT);
Acute Services (Crisis / Home Treatment Services & out of hours); specialist mental health services and a range of statutory and non-statutory services that support care. CMHTs use an integrated multi-disciplinary approach and aim to work with patients with complex mental health problems, families and carers, and other agencies to design and oversee comprehensive packages of care where needed. Interventions are delivered on a stepped / matched basis based on individualised assessment and the principle of delivering the minimum effective level of intervention.
