At Babcock we are building a safe and secure world. As an Electrical Fitter at HMNB Clyde, you will support one of the United Kingdom’s most important naval facilities by maintaining and improving critical electrical systems that support defence operations.
Responsibilities- Carry out planned preventative maintenance and nuclear-implicated work across Shiplift systems and equipment.
- Identify, diagnose and rectify system faults, defects and equipment issues to maximise operational availability.
- Follow established engineering processes while contributing ideas to improve performance, efficiency and productivity.
- Work safely in accordance with health and safety legislation, safe systems of work and control of work procedures.
- Support maintenance activities across the wider estate when required.
This is a full-time, 36‑hour per week role based on site at HMNB Clyde. Working hours are 07:15 to 16:45, Monday to Thursday.
Essential Experience- Experience with in a marine, industrial engineering or electrical maintenance environment.
- Confidence working at height, in confined spaces and in varied weather conditions.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and carry out fault‑finding activities.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on delivering high‑quality engineering standards.
- Experience of maintenance procedures, risk assessments, COSHH assessments and safe systems of work, alongside excellent teamwork skills.
- Recognised Electrical Engineering Apprenticeship qualified to SVQ Level 3 (or NVQ, City & Guilds equivalent), or HNC or above in an Electrical Engineering discipline with relevant industry experience.
Applicants must be a sole UK National able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance.
