This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly skilled Estates Management team maintaining essential mechanical systems and infrastructure that support critical defence operations. The role

As a Mechanical Fitter, you will carry out mechanical fitting, maintenance, repair and inspection activities across a diverse range of site systems and equipment. Working within the Estates Management function, you'll help ensure critical infrastructure performs effectively, supporting operational continuity and the delivery of important defence programmes. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex engineering systems, contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, and build a rewarding long-term career in a purpose-driven environment.

Day-to-day, you’ll be required to:

• Carrying out planned preventative maintenance, inspections and repairs on mechanical systems and equipment.
• Diagnosing faults, identifying defects and implementing effective engineering solutions.
• Maintaining critical infrastructure in line with technical standards, safety requirements and operational procedures.
• Supporting continuous improvement activities to enhance equipment reliability and performance.
• Assisting with team activities and providing guidance to apprentices where appropriate.

This role is full time, 36 hours per week and is based on site at Coulport.

Essential experience of the Mechanical Fitter:

• Proven experience working with mechanical systems and equipment within an industrial, engineering or maintenance environment.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, maintenance documentation and technical specifications.
• Experience in fault finding, defect diagnosis and repair of mechanical systems.
• Knowledge of risk assessments, COSHH requirements and safe systems of work.
• Ability to work effectively within health and safety legislation and established operational procedures.

Qualifications for the Mechanical Fitter:

• Recognised Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship or equivalent qualification.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) clearance for this role.
