As a Print Designer, you will develop prints for Vlisco’s assortment that are in line with the Vlisco DNA and make our Vlisco consumer’s dream. Every print design needs to align with the brand unique design DNA, design heritage and standards. An important requirement is to master the relation between print design and textiles production techniques.

You will meet the needs of existing but also new markets. And new textiles product categories.

You will work closely with various teams to ensure your designs are both innovative, reflective of Visco’s unique aesthetics, driven by given strategic briefings. All while fostering a collaborative and efficient team environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Design
  • Create print designs for monthly newly offered products, within different assortment segments; that are 12-14 unique final prints annually, ensuring they are completed within the planned deadlines and meet the required specifications;

  • Design colour colourways and colour applications (so called “blockings”) for each print design; each print design is delivered with the required colour ways and blockings.

Design Research
  • Develop sketches that can be transformed into Vlisco textiles products, aligned with the brand’s aesthetics;

  • Present and communicate a range of design ideas each month.

Design & Development
  • Develop new print concepts for upcoming new products – in quality, style and signature DNA.

Team
  • Contribute to a positive and collaborative atmosphere within the team;

  • Maintain a proactive and cooperative relationship with your design colleagues to achieve team goals;

  • Understand each team member’s working style, handwriting, and contribution to ensure smooth collaboration;

  • Help new designers integrate into the team and understand Vlisco’s design principles;

  • Mentor new designers on the Vlisco DNA and design skills to ensure consistent quality across designs.

Designers
  • Contribute to a positive and collaborative atmosphere within the team;

  • Maintain a proactive and cooperative relationship with your design colleagues to achieve team goals;

  • Understand each team member’s working style, handwriting, and contribution to ensure smooth collaboration;

  • Help new designers integrate into the team and understand Vlisco’s design principles;

Design Support
  • Ensure a smooth and efficient workflow between you and the support team throughout all design stages;

  • Work closely with the design support teams, guiding and ensuring collaboration with new designers on performance standards.

Able and willing to grow into a Vlisco Print Designer
  • Understand and apply Vlisco’s unique production process in your designs;

  • Ensure a smooth connection between your design process and the production process;

  • Maintain consistency with Vlisco’s distinctive colour DNA in all your designs;

  • Stay informed on Vlisco’s impact in our (African) markets to guide your design choices;

  • Identify new product opportunities and design trends; inspire and inform the design team;

  • Create innovative and efficient colour ways and blockings;

  • Ensure designs align with the product’s intended fashion use and appeal to the African consumer;

  • Deliver designs that align with and sharpen Vlisco’s product DNA.

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR
  • Bachelor’s or Master degree in Design, Creative or a related field;

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in textiles print design for the fashion industry;

  • Skilled with the Adobe suite;

  • Knowledge about the Vlisco textile products and an understanding of its unique design characteristics;

  • Active creativity, resulting in an individual aesthetic style;

  • Geometric (graphic) handwriting;

  • Analytical and critical ability (monitoring Vlisco DNA standard) and conceptual innovative ability;

  • Love for decoration/pattern design - delving into the all cultural, fashion and technical aspects of Vlisco printmaking;

  • Ability to stay updated on developments in design (Experience in being able to work within given technical, brand and given design principles is a plus);

  • Knowledge of African Fashion is a plus;

  • Proficiency in English is required. Dutch and French are a plus.
