Position: 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant

1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant - Primary School in Helston
Start Date: 1st February 2026
Contract Type: Ongoing supply (with potential for long-term placement)
Pay: £89-£95 per day
Working Pattern: Flexible - full-time and part-time opportunities available

Teaching Personnel are working closely with a supportive and inclusive primary school in Helston to recruit a dedicated 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant
. This role involves providing individualised support to a pupil with additional needs, with occasional personal and intimate care requirements
.

The school is keen to appoint someone who is patient, compassionate and confident supporting children with communication needs.
BSL and/or Makaton knowledge is highly desirable
, though training can be provided.

  • Providing consistent 1:1 SEN support within the classroom

  • Supporting pupils across the school day, including learning, communication and emotional regulation

  • Assisting with personal and intimate care when required, following school policies

  • Supporting communication using BSL and/or Makaton where appropriate

  • Working closely with class teachers, SENCOs and support staff

  • Helping to create a safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment

✔ Experience supporting children with SEN (school-based experience preferred)
✔ Confidence supporting personal and intimate care needs
BSL and/or Makaton knowledge (desirable but not essential)
✔ A calm, patient and empathetic approach
✔ Flexible availability to meet school needs
✔ A valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
