SENIOR CLIENT ACCOUNTANT

ROLE OVERVIEW

You will be the financial heartbeat for a diverse portfolio of residential developments, ensuring the integrity, accuracy and timeliness of all client and service charge accounting. Acting as a trusted partner to Property Managers and stakeholders, you will bring rigour to budgeting, reconciliations and year-end accounts, while keeping customers informed and confident in the numbers.

In this senior role, you will combine technical accounting expertise with strong communication and a calm, professional approach. You will lead on best practice, improve processes, mentor colleagues and help Trinity Estates deliver a first-class, compliant property management service at scale from our Hemel Hempstead head office.

ROLE EXPECTATIONS

Most days, you will prepare and review service charge accounts, complete reconciliations, manage the year-end process and resolve ledger queries. You will collaborate closely with Property Managers, external accountants and suppliers, proactively communicating deadlines, variances and cashflow positions. Your focus will be on delivering clean audits, clear reporting and steady, well-controlled client monies.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
  • Year-end accounts and packs delivered to high quality and on time, with clean audit outcomes.
  • Accurate bank, control and reserve reconciliations, with issues identified and resolved early.
  • Budgets and forecasts prepared with insight, enabling informed decisions and minimal surprises.
  • Clear, proactive communication to Property Managers, clients and residents, reducing queries.
  • Strong cash management, timely journals and robust controls in line with company policies.
  • Continuous improvement of processes and systems, sharing knowledge and supporting the team.
HOW YOU'LL SPEND MOST OF YOUR TIME
  • Preparing and reviewing service charge accounts, accruals, prepayments and journals.
  • Completing monthly bank, control and reserve reconciliations and resolving discrepancies.
  • Managing the year-end timetable, liaising with external accountants and auditors.
  • Supporting annual budgets and reforecasts, analysing variances and providing commentary.
  • Maintaining client bank accounts, coding and approving invoices, and ensuring compliance with procedures.
  • Responding to accounting queries from internal teams, clients, leaseholders and suppliers.

EXPERIENCE THAT HELPS
  • Experience in residential property or service charge accounting within a managing agent environment.
  • Confident using property management and finance systems (e.g., Qube/MRI, Yardi, Propman, Sage).
  • Leading the year-end process and working with external accountants or auditors.
  • Building budgets and explaining variances to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Identifying and delivering process improvements or mentoring junior team members.
