Assistant Accountant

Assistant Accountant Grimsby | Full-time | Permanent | £30k-£33k per annum Are you an ambitious finance professional looking for a broad, hands-on accounting role where you can develop your skills and make a real impact? I'm currently recruiting for an Assistant Accountant to join a well-established and growing organisation. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working across a wide range of finance activities, from management accounts and reporting through to treasury, forecasting, audit support and business analysis.

Reporting directly to the Head of Finance, you'll play a key role in delivering accurate and insightful financial information to senior stakeholders. This is a varied position that offers exposure to multiple areas of finance, providing excellent development opportunities for someone looking to progress their career.

Key responsibilities include:

Supporting monthly, half-year and annual financial reporting processes. Assisting with budgeting, forecasting, VAT returns and management reporting. Preparing journals, maintaining accounting records and providing variance analysis with meaningful commentary. Completing balance sheet reconciliations and supporting strong financial controls. Managing bank reconciliations, cash flow forecasting and supplier payment runs. Processing purchase invoices, raising purchase orders and issuing sales invoices. Supporting credit control activities and maintaining accurate financial records.

Maintaining fixed asset registers and year-end reporting schedules. Assisting with annual audit requirements, statutory accounts preparation and financial modelling projects. This opportunity would suit an organised and analytical individual who enjoys problem-solving and working collaboratively across a business. We're keen to speak with candidates who have:
Previous experience within a finance or accounting role. Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to their work. Good Excel and Microsoft Office skills. The ability to communicate financial information clearly to a range of stakeholders. Experience working with accounting systems. A flexible mindset and willingness to support ongoing finance projects. An accountancy qualification, or active study towards one, would be advantageous but is not essential.
