Are you a compassionate and resilient Mental Health Teaching Assistant local to Hemel Hempstead looking to make a real difference in the lives of young people? Academics are supporting a specialist SEMH provision in Hemel Hempstead that is seeking a dedicated individual to join their team on a temporary basis starting immediately.
As a Mental Health Teaching Assistant in Hemel Hempstead, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs. You'll help students develop confidence, build positive relationships, and re-engage with learning. Working closely with teachers and pastoral staff, you will deliver tailored support, manage behaviour effectively, and create a safe, nurturing environment for every learner.
Key Responsibilities:
Support students with SEMH and associated learning needs in 1:1 and small group settings
Assist with implementing behaviour and learning strategies
Help create an inclusive, positive, and engaging classroom atmosphere
Work collaboratively with staff and external professionals to support student progress
The ideal Mental Health Teaching Assistant will:
Have experience working with children or young people with SEMH or behavioural needs
Remain calm and patient in challenging situations
Be committed to supporting every child's emotional and academic development
Have excellent communication and teamwork skills
