Salary: £25,380 – £27,546 per annum

Salary dependent on experience and qualifications. Higher rates are reserved for candidates with substantial relevant training such a recognised Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent). Pay is determined in line with school expectations and Agency Worker Regulations (AWR), where applicable.

About the Role

Teach-Now is recruiting for a Student Support Officer to join a supportive secondary school in Dacorum.

This rewarding role focuses on providing targeted pastoral and mentoring support to students across KS3–KS5, particularly those who may be vulnerable, disengaged, or facing social, emotional, or behavioural barriers to learning. You will build trusted relationships, promote positive behaviour, and support students’ personal and academic development.

We are looking for someone organised, adaptable, and proactive, with a positive ‘can-do’ attitude and strong interpersonal skills. No two days are the same, so flexibility and resilience are key.

Key Responsibilities

• Providing 1:1 and small group mentoring support

• Supporting students with SEMH and behavioural needs

• Promoting positive behaviour, attendance, and engagement

• Monitoring and recording student progress and wellbeing

• Working closely with teaching staff, SEND teams, and parents/carers

• Contributing to safeguarding and early intervention processes

Requirements

• Experience working with secondary-aged students

• Experience supporting young people with SEMH or additional needs

• Strong communication and organisational skills

• A commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing

• Right to work in the UK
