About the Role as a SEN Teaching Assistant in Hemel Hempstead

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with Moderate Learning Difficulties, working closely with teachers to deliver engaging, inclusive learning experiences. You'll provide tailored support through classroom assistance, one-to-one sessions, and small group interventions, ensuring every student has the opportunity to succeed.

Key Responsibilities as a SEN Teaching Assistant in Hemel Hempstead

  • Provide high-quality classroom, one-to-one, and small group support for students with Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD)
  • Adapt learning activities to meet individual needs and encourage student participation
  • Support literacy, numeracy, and a range of curriculum-based learning activities
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and the SENCO to deliver personalised learning strategies
  • Foster a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment where students feel valued
  • Build strong, trusting relationships that promote confidence, independence, and emotional wellbeing
  • Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback to teaching staff

Requirements

  • Previous experience supporting children or young people with Special Educational Needs, particularly MLD, is desirable
  • Experience working with secondary-aged students is advantageous
  • Patient, caring, resilient, and adaptable with a positive attitude
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • A proactive approach with the ability to respond to a variety of learning and behavioural needs
  • Reliable, committed, and passionate about making a positive impact in education
