Are you a Psychology or Criminology graduate looking to gain hands-on experience working with young people before pursuing a career in educational psychology, clinical psychology, social work, counselling, youth justice, mental health, or teaching?

SEN Teaching Assistant

Location:

Hemel Hempstead

Pay: £465-£550 per week

Hours:

8:30am - 3:30pm, term-time only

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils who may experience barriers to learning due to additional needs, communication difficulties, emotional regulation, behavioural needs, or social challenges. You will play a key role in helping pupils feel safe, supported, and engaged within school.

You may support pupils with:

Special Educational Needs (SEN)
Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
ADHD
Anxiety and low self-esteem
Attachment and trauma-related needs
Communication and social difficulties
Behavioural challenges impacting learning and relationships

Key Responsibilities

Supporting pupils during lessons and classroom activities
Building positive and trusting relationships with students
Encouraging emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
Providing 1:1 and small group support
Helping pupils develop confidence, resilience, and social skills
Working collaboratively with teachers, SEN staff, and pastoral teams
Promoting a calm, safe, and inclusive learning environment
