The RoleCommercial Manager – responsible for managing the commercial performance of utility and cable joining projects across the UK, ensuring robust commercial governance, contractual compliance, and effective cost control.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the commercial management of utility and cable joining projects from tender through to final account.
- Manage NEC and other standard forms of contract.
- Oversee valuations, applications for payment, variations, and final accounts.
- Monitor project costs, profitability, and commercial risk.
- Provide commercial support and guidance to operational delivery teams.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
- Support procurement and subcontract management activities.
- Ensure compliance with company procedures and contractual obligations.
- Produce accurate commercial reporting and forecasts for senior management.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and operational efficiencies.
We are looking for a commercially focused professional with experience within utilities, power, civil engineering, or infrastructure environments.
Essential Requirements- Proven experience in a Commercial Manager or Senior Quantity Surveyor role.
- Experience with in utilities, cable joining, power distribution, or infrastructure projects.
- Excellent commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
- Strong analytical and financial management abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or related discipline.
- Experience working within DNO or IDNO frameworks.
