To provide a high-quality, Trust-wide courier and transport service, including the transportation of service users, staff, equipment, and supplies across Hertfordshire and beyond. The postholder must hold a clean full UK driving licence (including Category
C), operate in a professional and courteous manner, and support the safe and efficient running of a 24/7 transport service, including weekends, nights and bank holidays.
All staff must comply with the Trust's Anti-Discriminatory Statement, Employee Charter, Trust Policies and Procedures, Code of Conduct, and Equality and Diversity standards.
Main duties of the job Operational- Provide scheduled and ad hoc transport services across the Trust's locations.
- Drive Trust vehicles up to 3500kg for delivery of equipment, supplies, and personnel.
- Complete daily vehicle checks, maintain cleanliness, and ensure roadworthiness.
- Load and unload items in a safe manner; follow PPE and manual handling protocols.
- Collect and deliver mail, pharmacy, medical records, and confidential documents.
- Transport service users, families and staff as required, including those with mobility issues (wheelchair training provided).
- Respond to emergency requests in line with Trust procedures.
- Operate communication devices and maintain accurate journey logs.
- Communicate courteously and professionally with service users, staff and the public.
- Follow operational instructions clearly; escalate incidents and delays promptly.
- Full UK driving licence (including Category
C) - Ability to load/unload and secure items safely.
- Daily lifting/moving of equipment; exposure to variable weather conditions.
- Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
- Occasional contact with distressed or vulnerable service users.
- Working evenings, nights, weekends, bank holidays on a 24/7 rota.
- Uniform and PPE provided.
- Clean full UK driving licence (Category
C)

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
£26,240 to £27,928 a year Per Annum inclusive of 5% HCAS
