Transport Planner

Recruit Assist are hiring an experienced Transport Planner for a Freight Distribution company in Hemel Hempstead. We are preferably looking for an experienced planner who will not need a lot of training and knows the job and has a passion for logistics and transport.
The position is 4 on and 4 off with two different shift patterns:
SALARY: £33,000.00
SALARY BONUS:
Anual performance-based bonus of up to 8% of their basic salary
 
* SHIFT PATTERN : 7am 5pm
 
* SHIFT PATTERN : 9am and 7pm
 * (these shifts will be covered each week
Work Pattern: 4 on 4 off – i.e. working four days and then being off for four days, including weekend and bank holiday. Additionally depending on business situations cover shifts might be required.

* Work Hours:

37.5 hrs week
 
* Leave entitlement: 24 days including bank holidays
 
* The department currently has 5 planners + 1 Team Leader
 
* Company overall size: 42 employees

JOB DETAILS AND REQUIREMENTS:
 
* Planning and coordinating road transport movements
 
* Working closely with customers, hauliers, distribution centres
 
* Delivering reliable transport solutions
 
* Responsible for making day-to-day operational decisions
 
* Prioritising outstanding orders and consolidating loads
 
* Using transport system data, customer requirements, cost considerations
 
* Arrange transport with approved hauliers
 
* Coordinate collection and delivery
 
* Produce, maintain and distribute the daily Trunk Schedule and schedules.
TRANSPORT PLANNING

SKILLS:

* 1 year minimum of Transport Planning with HGV Vehicles
 
* Exceptional organised
 
* Understanding and working with routing of drivers
 
* Experience of routing drivers
 
* Great standard of excel
 
* Previous experience of working haulier
 
* Attentive to detail. High level analytical skills.
 
* Knowledge of freight, transport, logistics industry
 
* Strong IT skills across the Microsoft Office Suite
