858 - Elementary School Assistant Principal @ Little Lake Elementary School

Hemet Unified School District is one of the largest geographic areas of any district in California, covering over 650 square miles, serving nearly 21,000 students across a variety of educational programs.

Brief Description

Serves under the supervision of the Elementary School Principal as an educational leader. Works with students in the areas of attendance and discipline and assumes the duties of the principal during his/her absence.

Responsibilities
  • Assists in evaluating the educational program, services, and personnel as directed.
  • Assists the principal in curriculum development and instructional improvement.
  • Assists the principal in supervision and evaluation of teachers.
  • Counsels with students, teachers, and parents concerning problems of student adjustment to insure student success in school.
  • Coordinates all guidance services in the school.
  • Supervises the school plant and approves work orders; schedules teacher extra duty assignments.
  • Supervises the maintenance of complete school attendance and punctuality; directs and assists teachers in maintaining records of attendance.
  • Investigates cases of irregular attendance and excessive tardiness; responsible for student control and all disciplinary actions.
  • Supervises the campus before, during, and after the school day; supervises student transportation and bus requests.
  • Coordinates and supervises campus supervision personnel; responsible for school noon sports program.
  • Maintains records of gifted students; prepares appropriate reports.
  • Assists in interpreting district and school programs to parents and community members.
  • Participates in community and professional organizations; collaborates with assistant superintendent and other principals.
  • Coordinates special instructional services at the local site with appropriate personnel.
  • Accepts additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Master's Degree from an accredited institution of higher learning, preferably in secondary curriculum or administration or a closely related field.
  • 5 years of successful teaching experience.
  • Previous administrative experience desired.
Credentials & Licenses
  • General Administration, Standard Administration, or Administrative Services credential.
  • Valid California Driver's license; retain during employment.
Physical Demands & Working Conditions

Physical Demands:
Sit, look downward, reach, stand, walk, bend, squat, push, pull, climb stairs, repetitive hand activities, lift / carry up to 25 pounds (occasionally) or up to 75 pounds (infrequently). Extensive reading; use seeing, hearing & speaking.

Working Conditions:

Indoor office, outdoor school yard & grounds, driving to different sites; exposure to seasonal temperature variations, dust, wind, traffic, food preparation smells, use of office equipment and desk supplies.
