Monday – Thursday, 6:30 AM – 5:00 PM

Job Summary

We are seeking a QAQC Technician/Inspector to oversee the quality assurance and quality control processes for our construction and steel fabrication projects. This position plays a critical role in ensuring that all work complies with applicable codes, specifications, and safety standards. The QAQC Technician will conduct inspections, perform materials testing, maintain documentation, and work cross-functionally with contractors and internal teams to deliver high-quality outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Quality Assurance
    • Develop and implement the quality management system for assigned construction projects.
    • Review project specifications, engineering drawings, and contract requirements for compliance.
    • Ensure ongoing adherence to applicable standards, codes, and client specifications.
  • Quality Control
    • Perform inspections of materials, structural welds, coatings, and fabrication processes.
    • Conduct testing on concrete, steel, welds, coatings, and other materials used in construction.
    • Monitor workmanship and project execution to detect deviations and ensure corrective action.
  • Documentation
    • Maintain accurate records of inspections, testing, and corrective actions.
    • Prepare quality reports, logs, and non-conformance reports (NCRs).
    • Ensure traceability and approval documentation is maintained and audit-ready.
  • Non-Conformance Management
    • Identify quality issues, deficiencies, and non-conformances.
    • Coordinate and document corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
    • Follow up with project teams to ensure timely resolution and compliance.
  • Collaboration and Communication
    • Work with project managers, field crews, subcontractors, and clients to ensure quality standards are met.
    • Conduct training or briefings on quality procedures and expectations.
    • Coordinate with third-party inspectors, testing agencies, and regulatory bodies.
  • Inspection and Testing
    • Perform field and shop inspections throughout all phases of fabrication and construction.
    • Verify calibration and proper use of inspection and testing equipment.
    • Ensure adherence to coating thickness, weld quality, and structural tolerances.
  • Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance
    • Support integration of quality with health and safety programs.
    • Ensure all QA/QC activities are performed with proper PPE and hazard awareness.
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of OSHA standards and enforce compliance.
  • Qualifications

    Education and Experience
    • High school diploma or GED required.
    • Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in construction QA/QC or inspection.
    • Experience in steel fabrication, welding, and coating inspection preferred.
    Certifications (Preferred or Required)
    • AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) – Required
    • NACE Level III Coating Inspector – Required
    • OSHA 10, 30, or 510 certifications – Preferred
    • ISO 9001, Six Sigma, or other quality certifications – Preferred
    Skills
    • Strong knowledge of construction materials, welding, coatings, and inspection standards.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to use AutoCAD or project management tools.
    • Ability to read blueprints, shop drawings, and technical specifications.
    • Strong communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
    Physical Requirements
    • Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs frequently and 75 lbs occasionally.
    • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, climb, kneel, crouch, or crawl as needed.
    • Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
    • Must be physically capable of working in active construction environments, indoors or outdoors.
    Additional Requirements
    • Must pass a background check and drug screening.
    • Must be eligible for respirator fit testing and wear required PPE (clean-shaven policy applies).
    • Travel may be required to job sites; primary work location will be the Hemet, CA facility.
