The Electrician is responsible for providing general and preventive electrical maintenance on Ellis Park Racing Operations property. Duties include performing skilled maintenance tasks with a primary emphasis on electrical repairs, rehabilitation, and construction projects for buildings, equipment, and systems. The role also involves inspecting all electrical aspects of facilities to ensure safety and compliance with electrical code, manuals, specifications, schematics, and blueprints.

The position reports directly to the Facilities Manager.

• Plans and performs work requiring a thorough knowledge of electrical and electronic principles, wiring specification codes, material properties, and equipment operation.
• Repairs, constructs, adjusts, modifies, installs, and services various types of electronic and electrical machinery and equipment throughout the property.
• Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles, and installs electrical conduit; splices wires by stripping insulation, twisting or soldering, and applying tape or terminal caps.
• Observes the functioning of installed equipment or systems to detect hazards and determine adjustments, relocation, or replacement needs.
• Performs normal functions of a Maintenance Technician when not performing electrical work.
• Special consideration will be given to candidates with valid electrical licenses or safety certifications.

• Licensed Journeymen must have 3+ years of electrical experience.
• Understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
• Proficiency with hand tools (screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pressure gauges, precision instruments) and power tools (pneumatic wrenches, welding equipment, jacks, hoists).
• Knowledge of frame carpentry for renovation projects is a plus.
• Able to obtain and maintain a valid Kentucky gaming/racing license.

Employees frequently sit or stand, walk, use hands to finger‑reach, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. Lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 50 lbs. is required. The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate to loud. Employees may be required to circulate throughout assigned areas, including the smoking area, while observing players and machine functioning.
