Overview
Touro University Nevada College of Osteopathic Medicine is seeking a full-time Physiology faculty position in the Department of Basic Sciences. This is a 12‑month appointment at the Assistant or Associate Professor level with primary teaching responsibilities and opportunities to conduct original research and scholarly activities. The position is located in Henderson, Nevada, approximately twenty‑five minutes from the Las Vegas Strip. The university is a non‑profit medical and health sciences graduate institution focused on positively impacting healthcare and education in the community.
ResponsibilitiesFaculty members teach courses in the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, Masters of Medical Health Sciences, and Masters of Physician Assistant Studies programs. They participate in university service, conduct original research or scholarly activities, pursue extramural funding, and may be assigned other duties as necessary.
Specific Responsibilities- Deliver lectures in Physiology for DO, PA, and MHS program students.
- Participate in and/or facilitate TBL, Clinical Integrated Sessions (CIS), or similar active learning sessions.
- Prepare guidelines and materials for Directed Self‑study Assignments (DSA).
- Author original questions congruent with learning objectives for formative and summative exams, of quality and design consistent with national licensure exams such as the USMLE, COMLEX, PANCE, etc.
- Actively participate in curriculum design, development, and evaluation.
The university values a PhD, DO/MD, or other equivalent terminal degree in the biomedical sciences. U.S. citizenship or permanent resident status is required.
Qualifications- Applicants must hold a PhD, DO/MD, or other equivalent terminal degree in the biomedical sciences.
- U.S. citizenship or permanent resident status.
- Proven experience in teaching, with preference for teaching in medical or other graduate health sciences programs.
- Evidence of productivity in research or other scholarly activities.
- Experience in research methods applicable to undergraduate and graduate medical and health care education.
- Experience assisting with design, implementation, and mentorship of student‑driven scholarly investigations and research projects.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Excellent presentation/public speaking skills.
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with COM and CHHS faculty within TUN, and with external collaborators.
