Overview
Extension EFNEP Program Assistant (Adult) — NC State Extension Forestry. This role delivers nutrition and related subject matter to enrolled participants under supervision and guidance of the County Extension Director and the District EFNEP Extension Associate.
Responsibilities- Recruit and enroll adult and school-aged youth participants into the EFNEP program.
- Make regular teaching visits to enrollees in homes or group settings; teach basic nutrition and food preparation skills using approved curricula.
- Submit required program records and reports to the District EFNEP Regional Nutrition Extension Associate (RNEA), EFNEP State office, and County Extension Director (CED).
- Market the program within the assigned area; recruit volunteers from the community and involve them in leadership roles.
- Collaborate with local Cooperative Extension staff and partner agencies; help secure program resources.
- Attend EFNEP and Extension meetings, trainings, and other professional development opportunities (some may require overnight travel).
- Enhance program visibility by communicating program impacts to local stakeholders and potential participants.
- Promote educational opportunities beyond EFNEP within the Cooperative Extension and partnering agencies.
- Recruit, train, and utilize volunteers to assist in program promotion, data collection, and program delivery.
- Meet established programmatic standards for performance and impact; perform other duties as assigned.
- Minimum education:
high school diploma or equivalent. - Knowledge of computer applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills; ability to maintain confidentiality and work with diverse groups.
- Self-directed, multi-tasking ability with good time and resource management.
- Ability to plan, organize, and develop effective working relationships with youth and adults and the broader community.
- Willingness to travel within county/district/state using personal vehicle; travel reimbursed per state guidelines.
- Must have or obtain a valid driver's license and reliable personal transportation; travel may include evenings and weekends.
- Lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally and 30 pounds frequently; standing, sitting, kneeling, stooping, reaching; exposure to heat, humidity, and sun as required.
- Oral and written communication skills; ability to interact with the public and staff.
- Preferred: knowledge of local community resources and nutrition education experience; bilingual (Spanish/English) is an asset but not required.
- Valid NC Driver's License required within 60 days of hire.
Under the guidance of the RNEA, the EFNEP Program Assistant conducts nutrition education for limited-resource adults and youth in group settings.
Work Schedule and EnvironmentMonday–Friday, 8:30 am–5:00 pm; some evenings and weekends as required.
