Overview
The mission of Touro University Nevada COM is the education of medical students to become well-rounded osteopathic doctors through innovative and supportive pre-clinical and clinical pathways. The Assistant Dean supports a broad range of activities in the Department of Clinical Education and serves as a resource to students and staff. The ADCE is responsible for supporting a number of services to students and preceptors, as well as ensuring students have access to faculty guidance and counseling in coordination with other administrative faculty.
The office of Clinical Education introduces our medical students to meaningful, diverse clinical experiences in various settings. The Assistant Dean for Clinical Education is responsible for ensuring affiliated sites provide meaningful educational experiences; contributes to the education of students; managing student relationships; ensuring clinical achievement; aids in the attainment of leadership to all clinical education staff. The ADCE reports directly to the Associate Dean for Clinical Education.

RESPONSIBILITIESESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Demonstrate comprehension of the Student and Faculty Manual for Clinical Coursework and the policies and procedures contained therein. Be familiar with the numeric designation of the core third-year clinical courses, as well as any other clinical courses that have an organized didactic component. Assist in the maintenance and creation of manuals for the department.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the clinical curriculum and be able to access the various clinical courses on and generate the various reports necessary to evaluate student performance.
- Maintain and develop curricular documents for CORE clerkships or other electives as needed.
- Initiate and maintain research on ongoing potential improvements and additions to the ancillary programs and expectations for clinical students and didactic opportunities.
- Assist with the creation of the Medical Student Performance Evaluation (MSPE) and Letters of Good Standing for students.
- Facilitate the transition of students from Year 2 to Year 3 and Year 3 to Year 4 including but not limited to assistance of students with their planning for COMLEX 1 and 2CE.
- Represent the Clinical Education Department on various committees as assigned within the University.
- Provide leadership through maintenance and development of external groups and associations in AACOM, ACGME and others to distribute and support the mission of the COM and Clinical Education including trends in matching, residency and excellence in the clinical education sector of osteopathic and allopathic medical schools.
- Assist in the development of the strategic plan for the clinical education department.
- Participate and initiate site visits, as assigned by the Associate Dean for Clinical Education, to assess the quality of facilities used in clinical clerkships and the effectiveness of clinical preceptors.
- Under the direction of the Associate Dean for Clinical Education, work to develop and participate in continuing medical education programs for the clinical faculty, both full-time and adjunct.
- Develop and maintain professional development and training materials for clinical sites and preceptors.
- Participate in training of new Touro adjunct clinical faculty who will be involved in the education of students during their clinical years.
