Why This Role MattersAs the Battery Management Systems Engineer, you'll be the technical backbone of next‑generation battery systems, replacing a retiring engineer and bringing fresh expertise to a team of 5 engineers working on highly customized lithium battery solutions. Your BMS design work will directly shape product reliability, safety, and performance across diverse applications—from life‑saving medical defibrillators to heavy‑duty industrial equipment.
Success in this role meansDesigning robust Battery Management Systems that meet stringent safety standards, collaborating cross‑functionally from R&D through production floor, and maintaining the high engineering standards this company is known for while supporting continuous product innovation.
hat You'll Do- Design and develop Battery Management Systems (BMS) from concept through production, ensuring safety, reliability, and performance across custom lithium battery applications
- Create PCBA layouts using Altium Designer or Cadence Or Cad , translating electrical schematics into manufacturable designs that balance functionality with production efficiency
- Lead circuit life cycle support including design reviews, FMEA analysis, validation testing, and hands‑on troubleshooting using oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators, and logic analyzers
- Collaborate daily with engineering, quality, and production teams on new product development and existing product optimization—expect 50/50 split between R&D innovation and hands‑on manufacturing support
- Drive failure analysis and corrective actions by supporting the quality team with deep technical expertise in electronic assembly troubleshooting and root cause analysis
- Interface with communication protocols including CAN, RS485, and external interfaces to ensure seamless battery system integration
- Maintain hands‑on technical skills with proficiency in soldering electronics assemblies (through‑hole and surface mount) and direct production floor engagement
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- 8+ years of electrical engineering experience
, with minimum 3+ years specifically in battery technology, energy storage systems, or power electronics - PCBA design proficiency with Altium Designer, Cadence OrCad, or similar professional PCB design tools
- Strong schematic reading and electronic troubleshooting skills across assemblies, systems, and embedded software
- Hands‑on experience with lab equipment: oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators, logic analyzers
- Experience with CAN bus, RS485, and external interface protocols
- Comfortable with hands‑on work including soldering (through‑hole and surface mount)
- US work authorization without sponsorship required
- Direct experience with lithium‑ion battery systems or energy storage applications
- Background in medical device, industrial equipment, or automotive battery systems
- Experience with project management tools and cross‑functional collaboration
- FMEA methodology and design validation experience
Relocation Assistance: $5K–$10K package available for qualified out‑of‑state candidates
Work Arrangement: Full‑time on‑site (Monday‑Friday, 8am‑4pm)—hands‑on role requires daily production floor and lab presence
