Position Overview

We are seeking to create an eligibility list and fill one (1) vacancy for the classification of SCADA Systems Engineer in the Department of Utility Services (DUS). The vacancy may be filled for up to one (1) year.

Department Summary

DUS provides vital water and wastewater services to our citizens while protecting the environment, health, and prosperity of our community.

Responsibilities

Under general supervision, the Engineer performs complex application, administration, development, and support work on the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems. The Engineer supports SCADA‑controlled operations functions within DUS, provides project and program leadership to professional and technical staff, and performs related duties as required.

Salary placement for non‑represented positions is based on a comprehensive compensation review and takes into consideration the candidate's qualifications as well as internal equity.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a field closely related to the work.
  • Six (6) years of experience in supporting and developing process control applications and systems designed to support utility services or other similar environments. Experience must have included structured programming and enterprise administration.
  • Note:

    An equivalent combination of related training and experience may be considered.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Nevada or "border state" driver's license, as defined by NRS 483.
  • Desirable:
    Microsoft Certified Professional Developer (MCPD). Desirable:
    Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) – Server Infrastructure. Desirable:
    Visual Studio certification. Desirable: C# Specialist examination proficiency in programming. Desirable:
    Wonderware certifications in System Platform, Historian, and InTouch.

The selection process may include written, performance, and oral assessments to evaluate job‑related education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
