Austal Australia is delivering multiple naval shipbuilding and sustainment programs for the Royal Australian Navy, Australian Border Force and the Department of Defence, employing approximately 1,000 people in facilities in located Western Australia, Queensland and the Northern Territory.

We are on our path towards becoming the Commonwealths "Strategic Shipbuilder" in the West, aiming to be in contract for the Strategic Shipbuilding Agreement (SSA). The SSA will establish an overarching program which enables the design and build of vessels at the Henderson Shipyard. The objective of the SSA is to possess the capacity and capability to initially deliver Landing Craft Medium & Heavy for the Australian Army in supporting continuous naval shipbuilding in WA.The SSA is about establishing the capability within the Henderson Precinct, and Western Australia, to continuously build vessels for the Commonwealth.

It will be led by Austal, and will require the engagement of local industry, supply chain and workforce to be successful.

About the Opportunity The Planning & Subcontract Coordinator is a key position within the Design and Engineering team, ‘delivering together’. You’ll beâ¦.Creating & Maintaining Design Team Planning Philosophy, Resource Forecasts, WBS & Schedules.

Supporting generation of Project Estimates.

Supports the design team with Subcontracting capability & capacity to ensure timely & accurate products can be delivered.

Sourcing, onboarding, monitoring subcontractors and subcontracted work packages.

Produce accurate information and documentation that meet all procedural and auditable requirements.

Ensure work deadlines are met and deliverables are not compromised or missed.

Communicate effectively and efficiently through verbal and written means to all necessary parties.

Consistently exhibit a proactive attitude towards innovation and improvement.

Skills and Experience Essential At  least 7 years’ experience in relevant design and planning disciplines

Strong demonstrated experience with Primavera P6 &/or MS Project Excellent time management and organisational skills

Flexibility and adaptability to prioritise conflicting demands

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Good understanding of data and document management principals

Desirable

A good understanding of the design & production process with regards to ship building

Ability to identify & initiate improvements within the business

Excellent Stakeholder management skills

Ability to support the design team to ensure design deliverables meet schedule, cost and quality expectations

Due to the Security Clearance required for this position, applicants must be an Australian Citizen and eligible to obtain and uphold a Baseline Security Clearance through the Australian Department of Defence.
