United Flea Markets is a fast‑growing operator of flea markets across the country. We are rebuilding and modernizing our finance function and are seeking a hands‑on, operationally minded Financial Controller to lead day‑to‑day accounting, strengthen internal controls, and support a multi‑location business.
This is a highly visible role that partners closely with the CFO and leadership team to reinforce the company’s financial foundation and enable disciplined growth.
Responsibilities & Duties- Lead daily accounting operations, including month‑end close, GL management, reconciliations, accruals, and financial reporting.
- Ensure accuracy and integrity across all financial statements, accounting records, and reconciliations.
- Strengthen internal controls, including compliance with accounting policies, Delegation of Authority, and core financial workflows.
- Oversee accounting controls related to cash handling, deposits, revenue recognition, and multi‑location operational activity.
- Drive improvements in Great Plains and help streamline manual accounting processes.
- Lead annual audit preparation and act as the primary contact for external auditors.
- Partner with the CFO on accounting policies, systems, and process enhancements.
- Collaborate with market and operations leaders to ensure accurate reporting and consistent application of accounting practices.
- Coach, develop, and lead the accounting team in a culture of clarity, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA preferred.
- 8–10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including team leadership.
- Strong understanding of GAAP, internal controls, and month‑end close discipline.
- Prior audit leadership experience, including preparation and coordination.
- Ability to evaluate and improve accounting systems and processes (Great Plains experience a plus).
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative leadership style.
- Leadership maturity, with the ability to set expectations and hold teams accountable while supporting development.
