We are on our path towards becoming the Commonwealths "Strategic Shipbuilder" in the West, aiming to be in contract for the Strategic Shipbuilding Agreement (SSA).
Join us for this exciting opportunity to be part of continuous naval shipbuilding, contributing and significant work for the Australian Defence Force. The SSA will establish an overarching program which enables the design and build of vessels at the Henderson Shipyard. The objective of the SSA is to possess the capacity and capability to initially deliver Landing Craft Medium & Heavy for the Australian Army in supporting continuous naval shipbuilding in WA.The
SSA is about establishing the capability within the Henderson Precinct, and Western Australia, to continuously build vessels for the Commonwealth. It will be led by Austal, and will require the engagement of local industry, supply chain and workforce to be successful. About the Opportunity The Accountant is a key position within the SSA Finance Department. This role will support the maintenance and integrity of accurate and timely financial accounting and statutory compliance and internal controls across the group.
You’ll be responsible for;
Maintaining a company-wide General Ledger (GL) structure and chart of accounts that supports statutory, tax, operational, and profit analysis requirements.
Ensure the GL serves as the central source for all SSA financial recordkeeping and reporting.
Reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly for each entity, investigating and resolving discrepancies.
Prepare and issue monthly intercompany invoices, ensuring all intercompany accounts are reconciled.
Perform month-end revaluations for foreign currency accounts.
Support periodic audit processes and ensure timely, accurate statutory compliance across all entities.
Prepare financial data and reports for Group Reporting, including annual reports and ASX releases.
Adhere to and support the implementation and improvement of financial accounting policies and procedures.
Maintain and enhance accounting standards and policies across the Group.
Foster a high-performance culture aligned with company values. Skills and Experience Tertiary
Qualification:
Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related Business discipline.
Professional Accreditation: CA, CPA, or equivalent qualification (completed or currently in progress).
Experience:
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a financial accounting role.
