The Certified Surgical Technologist is responsible for assisting with patient care within the assigned work area and participates as a member of the health care team. The Certified Surgical Technologist contributes to the care of the patient by following established Surgical Services standards. This position is represented by SEIU, Local 1107 and is covered by the terms and conditions of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
Job Requirements- One (1) year recent full‑time experience in an acute care facility as a certified surgical technologist.
- Considerable experience in an Ambulatory Surgery Center with procedures of similar acuity or complexity.
- High‑school graduation or equivalent.
- Graduation from an accredited Surgical Technologist program with certification.
- Earn 15 units of continued education annually per NBSTSA requirements.
- CT CPR BLS – Basic Life Support (AHA).
- CT ORT – Certified Surgical Technologist National; must be provisioned through NBSTSA.
- Current employees hired before January 1 2018 are grandfathered and exempt from NBSTSA certification.
- Location requires quarterly American Heart Association (AHA) Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) competency certification post‑hire; internal resources only.
- One year recent full‑time experience in an acute care facility, including trauma and open‑heart procedures, with certified status.
- CST certification provisioned through NBSTSA preferred; grandfathering per current Nevada Revised Statutes acceptable.
