position summarythe audio visual & computer support technician tier 2 provides advanced technical support for a/v systems, end-user devices, and network infrastructure across campus. This position serves as an escalation point for tier 1 support, takes lead on complex issues, and ensures the smooth operation of classroom technology, live events, and enterprise computing systems. The technician collaborates with faculty, staff, athletics, and it teams to deliver professional, reliable support for both scheduled and on-demand needs.
duties& responsibilities
- serve as tier 2 support for a/v and computer‑related incidents; diagnose and resolve complex issues escalated from helpdesk or junior technicians.
- document resolutions and update knowledge base for tier 1 use.
- assist setup, operation, and troubleshooting of a/v systems for university events.
- maintain and configure classroom and venue a/v systems, including control panels, amplifiers, switchers, and networked devices.
- diagnose and repair escalated hardware/software issues on windows and macos devices.
- deploy and configure systems, peripherals, and enterprise software using imaging tools or endpoint management systems.
- assist with campus‑wide hardware refreshes and it projects.
- maintain and support voip phones, wireless access points, door access systems, and campus security cameras.
- participate in on‑call rotation for emergency it and network incidents.
- assist tier 1 technicians on the helpdesk as needed, including answering phones or providing guidance and real‑time escalation support.
- strong knowledge of a/v hardware, streaming, and enterprise it troubleshooting.
monday – friday
8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
additional hours as requested and/or needed
regular and reliable attendance
- bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- avixa cts or equivalent certification.
- experience supporting classroom technology in higher education.
- familiarity with sports broadcasting systems and ip‑based video delivery.
- hands‑on experience with access control and ip camera systems.
other job related education and/or experience may be substituted for all or part of these basic requirements, except for certification or licensure requirements, upon approval of the qualifications review committee.
