CDI is committed to strengthening Australia’s sovereign defence capability through advanced manufacturing, fabrication, and construction services. As the prime contractor delivering the Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV) program for the Commonwealth of Australia, CDI plays a pivotal role in supporting national defence infrastructure.

Backed by Civmec’s broad expertise across the energy, resources, infrastructure, marine, and defence sectors, CDI offers diverse career opportunities and the chance to contribute to landmark projects within a dynamic and future-focused industry.

Join the Civmec Defence Industries Team

CDI is seeking an experienced Contracts Manager to take ownership of the management and administration of major subcontract packages on the Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV) program, a nationally significant defence initiative.

In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of subcontract management, including correspondence, variations, claims, and payment processes for key delivery partners. Your expertise will ensure contractual compliance, mitigate risks, and maintain strong commercial governance throughout the project lifecycle.

The Role

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage major subcontract agreements including correspondence, variations, claims, payments, and close‑out.
  • Draft, review, and finalize subcontractor correspondence and claim assessments in line with subcontract terms.
  • Advise on contractual interpretation and dispute resolution, including leading negotiations where required.
  • Maintain accurate registers of variations, delays, claims, extensions of time, and payments for reporting.
  • Promote strong working relationships with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure effective delivery.
  • Support integrated reporting requirements, including progress, performance, and cost analysis.

This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a high‑profile maritime infrastructure project, working within a collaborative, outcome‑driven environment. If you are a seasoned professional with a strong background in contract administration and commercial management, this role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact while advancing your career in a long‑term leadership position.

About You

Your experience should include the following:

  • Tertiary Qualification in Law, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Contracts Management or similar field.
  • Prior experience in a similar contracts manager role focusing on the management of key contracts.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in the management of major contracts.
  • Strong, clear and effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
