Overview

At VCI Construction, a Fiber Splicer completes optical fiber fusion to maintain our telecommunication networks. Your splicing work is essential for keeping strong, reliable connections, ensuring data travels seamlessly through our growing network.

• Perform cable upgrades and splicing tasks, both aerial and underground with guidance
• Test, activate, and troubleshoot the network’s circuit post‑installation
• Ensure all splicing operations meet strict customer and industry standards
• Safely navigate working at different heights, from underground to in the air
• Complete basic daily maintenance of vehicles, including fluid checks
• Document work performed through daily production reports, including marking up maps and keeping correct material usage records
• Other duties as assigned

• Be 18 years of age or older
• Authorization to work in the United States for this company
• High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experience
• Valid State driver’s license (cannot be provisional), with acceptable driving record
• Must pass a DOT physical exam, resulting in a valid medical card
• 6 months of splicing experience or one year in the telecommunications industry

• Certified pole climber or able to demonstrate proficiency as a pole climber is preferred
• Knowledge of telecommunications network structure

• Routinely: operate vehicle and heavy machinery, squeeze, fine hand motion, work alone in remote locations with arms above shoulder level, bend, stoop, stand, walk, climb stairs, and lift >55 pounds
• Occasionally: work in confined spaces, use ladder and gaffs for climbing poles, keyboard and mouse
