Medical Laboratory Technician (Chemistry) – 1st Shift

• Tests laboratory specimens to ensure accurate and quality results for patient care.
• Recognizes problems, identifies causes, and finds solutions even when no preset criteria are present.
• Confirms and verifies results through in‑depth knowledge of quality control, testing techniques, instrumentation, and regulatory requirements.
• Prepares and collects human samples for analysis, storing and transporting samples using appropriate preservation methods (blood, urine, sputum, feces, exudates, secretions, or other body fluids).
• Familiar with and follows all safety regulations under the fire code and CDC blood and body fluid precautions.
• Operates, calibrates, conducts performance checks, and maintains clinical instruments and equipment.
• Recognizes and corrects basic instrument malfunctions.
• Conducts established quality control procedures on analytical tests, equipment, reagents, media, and products; evaluates results and implements corrective action when indicated.
• Maintains the work area in a clean, orderly condition in compliance with federal safety and hygiene policies.
• Informs the Lab Supervisor of activities including unusual patient data or results, instrumentation problems, and public‑relation issues.

• Minimum Education:
  
  Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, or biological science or Medical Technology certifications from an accredited institution.
