Full‑time, Monday–Friday (6:30 AM–3:30 PM or 8:00 AM–5:00 PM). Licensed staff will also rotate weekend hours:
Saturdays 7:00 AM–11:00 AM / Sundays 7:00 AM–11:00 AM. Staff scheduled for weekend hours receive a day off during the week every 2–3 months.

Responsibilities- Perform moderately complex substance abuse counseling work. Plan, coordinate, and implement counseling activities.
- Coordinate with other departments to maximize resources for chemical dependency treatment and rehabilitation in compliance with MTC and TDCJ directives.
- Assist with substance abuse counseling, recovery skills training, inmate orientation, educational and individual counseling groups.
- Participate in the development and implementation of a comprehensive treatment plan (CTP). Assess inmate needs and risk of recidivism.
- Maintain accurate case reports, records, and statistics. Preserve confidentiality of inmate records.
- Teach and practice complex life skills such as assertiveness, anger management, goal setting, criminality management, and cognitive restructuring.
- Implement follow‑up and after‑care plans and disseminate community resource information.
- Coordinate recovery‑oriented support groups; provide volunteer coordination, literature libraries, and scheduling of meetings.
- Ensure the principles of AA, NA, SOS, Celebrate Recovery, and other groups are respected.
- Provide required training to inmates for leading support groups.
- Model appropriate behaviors, give feedback on social skills and intervention techniques.
- Engage in dorm activities, ensure group fidelity, and maintain accountability of staff, inmates, and property.
- Adhere to all safety practices.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Graduation from an accredited senior high school, GED, or equivalent.
- One of the following licenses/certifications: LCDC‑I; CCJP‑A; LCDC; or CCJP.
- Must obtain LCDC or CCJP within five (5) years from date of registration.
- Sign Credential Contingency Agreement.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record (unless waived).
Within 180 days of employment, obtain a letter of registration as a CI from the Texas Department of State Health Services or current certification as a CCJP‑A. Complete annual in‑service training and background check approved by TDCJ.
