The Clinical Nursing Assistant is responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process under the direction of a Registered Nurse in a hospital setting.

• Assist physicians and other health care providers with routine examinations and procedures, as well as procurement of equipment and supplies during emergency situations.
• Observe, collect, and document patient information obtained while providing care and promptly report significant changes in the patient’s condition to a registered nurse or physician.
• Assist patients and their families during admission to the clinical area, orientation to the hospital/clinic/home health experience, and discharge.
• Provide care/treatments to patients as outlined in plan of care including monitoring of vital signs, measurement of height and weight, specimen collection, skin preps/scrubs such as chlorhexidine (CHG) bathing, catheter care, capillary blood glucose checks, simple wound care, range‑of‑motion exercises, drain care, and assist patients with routine activities of daily living (ADL) such as bathing, dressing, feeding, and ambulation.
• Maintain an effective clinical work environment: cleaning the work area, changing linens, maintaining and monitoring supply levels, transporting patients/specimens throughout hospital.
• Ensure competency in all required skills and complete competency assessment annually per the documented competency checklist. Adhere to documented policies and processes and perform other related duties as assigned.

• Must have nursing assistant certification, such as Nurse Aide I registration as administered by the North Carolina Board of Nursing (NCBON).
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
