The software department of the Application Engineering cluster is responsible for the software development in Combat Management and Radar‑and-Optical sensors for worldwide navies‑and defense systems. The work is performed in multi‑disciplinary agile teams with specialists in software/system/test engineering and functional design.
Assignment OverviewAlways wanted to develop a game but never got time or inspiration to create one? This is your chance to create a game for Thales (at Thales). Extend the game and create gameplay that is “easy to learn and hard to master” so that gamers want to keep playing. The main purpose is to have fun and make the gamers (students) aware of the naval domain and the products that Thales produces.
The Radar and Sensors that are developed in Thales will be used in the game.
Inspired by games like Robo Code, DOTA, LoL and Heroes of the Storm, this MOBA (multiplayer online battle arena) based game features battleships. Players equip their battleship before entering the battle arena to fight other battleships. In a small group of other students the game is in need to be extended/updated with new abilities, features and designs. Work may consist of adding new abilities, implementing proper UI, creating customizable ships, improving the network manager, adding new game mode, new dynamic map and more.
Responsibilities- Extend and update the existing game with new abilities, features and designs.
- Implement gameplay mechanics that are easy to learn and hard to master.
- Develop user interfaces for player customization and battle control.
- Enhance network management for multiplayer functionality.
- Design and create new dynamic maps and game modes.
- Integrate threat sensor data from Thales radar and sensor systems.
- Work closely with multidisciplinary agile teams.
- Experience with Unity engine.
- Strong programming skills (C#, Unity scripts).
- Knowledge of UI design and implementation.
- Experience with networked multiplayer game architecture.
- Understanding of 3D modeling and level design.
- Familiarity with gaming mechanics inspired by MOBA titles.
- Enrolled at a school or educational institution throughout the internship period.
