The Compressor Crew Mechanic (Millwright/Machinist), Rodeo Renewable Energy Complex performs a wide range of tasks to ensure the safe and efficient operation of refinery equipment. Responsibilities include inspecting, installing, maintaining, repairing, fabricating, adjusting, troubleshooting, disassembling/reassembling, and servicing various mechanical systems. This role requires precision, technical expertise and a strong understanding of blueprints, schematics, technical manuals, operating and maintaining tools and equipment essential to the trade while ensuring a well-kept and orderly work environment.
You will have opportunities to expand your skill set and contribute to the safe and reliable operation of the Renewable Energy Complex by assisting other team members as needed.
This position requires the successful completion of an online assessment. Your assessment results will be valid for one year.
Responsibilities- Actively participate in safety processes, including Job Safety Analyses (JSA), Task Safety Analyses (TSA), and safety observations to ensure compliance with government regulations and company policies.
- Collaborate with Operations and other departments to prioritize and schedule maintenance repairs efficiently.
- Review work scope, ensuring materials, tools, and resources are available to optimize craft productivity.
- Execute daily preventative maintenance and work orders.
- Identify equipment defects, take corrective actions when possible, and recommend long-term solutions.
- Develop and refine maintenance and safety procedures individually or as part of a team.
- Interpret and apply technical manuals, procedures, and specifications (in English) to execute assigned tasks effectively.
- Coordinate work activities with other team members as needed.
- Be available for overtime, weekend, holiday, and shift work as required.
- Foster a collaborative work environment by sharing expertise with colleagues to enhance team performance.
- Participate in the Haz Mat Team, including specialized training and emergency response duties.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States without restrictions
- Valid driver's license
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- 5 or more years of direct related experience maintaining and overhauling process reciprocating compressors
- 5 or more years of direct related experience maintaining and overhauling process centrifugal compressors
- Completion of an accredited mechanical technology school certificate, degree, or apprenticeship program (e.g., NCCER Level 4 certification)
- Currently hold (or willing and able to obtain, if selected) valid Transportation Workers' Identification Credential (TWIC) or qualify for a TWIC card by start date. More information can be found at the TSA TWIC site:(Use the "Apply for this Job" box below)./twic
- Willing and able, with or without reasonable accommodation, to perform/comply with the following:
- Work overtime, including weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts
- Respond to after-hours callouts
- Lift up to 50 pounds
- Work in confined spaces (e.g., tanks, silos)
- Work safely around large, high-speed machinery
- Climb up to 200 feet and work at elevated heights
- Work in hazardous environments, including exposure to chemicals, acids, and bases
- Wear fire-resistant clothing (Nomex) and personal protective equipment (PPE), such as steel-toed shoes, gloves, eye/ear protection, and respirators
- Maintain facial grooming to ensure proper respirator/face mask fit
- Be on-call and respond to emergencies as needed
- Work outdoors in extreme weather conditions
- 5 or more years of experience in troubleshooting, servicing, and repairing rotating equipment, including:
- Gearboxes
- Steam turbines
- Gas turbines
- Screw Compressors
- Pumps
- Motors
- Experience with laser alignment
- Experience with SAP or other CMMS systems
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Military training and experience in mechanical maintenance
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive, results-oriented mindset
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively across all organizational levels
The Rodeo Renewable Energy Complex is a state-of-the-art facility processing renewable feed stocks (waste oils, fats, greases, and vegetable oils) to produce vital transportation fuels, including renewable diesel and sustainable aviation fuels. The facility supports energy needs in the region and was converted to renewable production in early 2024.
