Electrical Instrumentation Technician – Hereford Ethanol Partners, L.P.
In this position, the Technician will report to the Maintenance Manager and perform maintenance in electrical, instrumentation, controls, PLC/DCS programming, and troubleshooting to ensure safe and efficient production.
Responsibilities- Work in all areas of the plant.
- Perform instrumentation and electrical repairs and troubleshooting.
- Repair and maintain motors, motor starters, VFDs, run conduit, and wire pulling.
- Troubleshoot and repair PLC/DCS systems and Plant Steam Boiler Control Systems.
- Program PLC/DCS systems.
- Conduct instrument/electrical repairs and installations for 60‑70% of the time.
- Move, set, and calibrate instrument/electrical controls such as flow control valves, limit switches, auto levers, and index arms on control panels to manage process variables (flows, temperatures, pressures, vacuum, time, chemicals) for units like heaters, coolers, thermal oxidizers, compressors, and exchangers.
- Determine malfunctioning units by observing control instruments, meters, gauges, or automatic warning signals (alarms, lights).
- Inspect and troubleshoot equipment to locate and diagnose malfunctions such as leaks, breakages, or faulty communication cables, and decide on repair and maintenance actions.
- Monitor units to verify safe and efficient operating conditions.
- Keep equipment clean and lubricated.
- Excellent written, verbal, and personal skills.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks, work well with others, and work independently.
- Experience using Maximo CMMS system.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Ability to lift up to 60 lbs.
- Familiarity with industrial equipment operations and care.
- Experience with Arc and MIG welding.
- Mechanical background with bearing changes, pumps, conveyors, etc.
- Strong electrical experience.
- PLC/DCS knowledge.
- Knowledge of Hart, Field Bus, Aussie, Device Net, Delta V Communication Systems, Allen Bradley PLC Control Systems.
- Ability to read and update electrical and device net online drawings.
- Understanding of discrete and analog systems.
- Experience in pneumatic and hydraulic systems strongly preferred.
- Manage confined space entry, climb ladders and steps, lift up to 60 lbs., and work at heights.
- Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts.
- Regular exposure to dusty conditions.
- Regular exposure to high noise environments.
- Regular exposure to outside weather in all conditions.
- Regular exposure to chemicals used in the process.
