Business Development Manager

Salary: Up to £40,000 + Commission
Location: Hereford (with UK travel)

A leading, fast‑growing organisation in the payments sector is seeking a highly driven Business Development Manager to join their expanding commercial team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated sales professional who thrives on identifying new business opportunities and closing high‑value deals.

This role is primarily office‑based in Hereford, with regular UK travel for client visits, events and industry engagements.

The Role

As the Business Development Manager, you will:

Hunt for New Business
  • Proactively identify, research, and pursue new business opportunities across relevant sectors.
  • Use cold calling, networking, events and direct outreach to drive pipeline growth.
Execute Sales Strategy
  • Develop and deliver effective sales plans that support wider business revenue objectives.
Client Acquisition & Pipeline Development
  • Build, manage, and maintain a strong pipeline of prospective clients.
  • Convert new business opportunities into long‑term partnerships.
Presentations & Proposals
  • Deliver tailored product demos and compelling sales presentations.
  • Prepare proposals that align solutions to client needs.
Negotiate & Close Deals
  • Lead commercial negotiations with a focus on meeting and exceeding sales targets.
Market Awareness
  • Monitor industry trends and competitor activity to identify opportunities for growth.
Cross‑Team Collaboration
  • Work closely with marketing and other internal teams to ensure aligned go‑to‑market activity.
Reporting
  • Provide accurate, timely sales reports and forecasts to the leadership team.
Industry Engagement
  • Attend relevant conferences, exhibitions and events to represent the business.
About You

The ideal candidate will bring:

  • Proven success in a sales or Business Development role (preferably within financial services, tech, SaaS, or payments).
  • A strong track record of proactively hunting, securing, and closing new business.
  • The ability to quickly understand technical solutions and communicate them clearly to non technical audiences.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship building skills.
  • A professional sales approach aligned to ethical, value‑driven principles.
  • A self‑motivated mindset with strong strategic thinking.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM platforms.
  • Willingness to travel across the UK when required.
