The RoleHerefordshire Council are seeking a passionate, knowledgeable and RBI 3 Principle Building Control Surveyor to join our Building Control Team. You will lead an existing team of Building Control Surveyors and Technical Support Officers, manage day-to-day operations and administrative duties of the department, and deputise for the Building Control Manager as required.
What will you be doing?‑ Manage and support the building control service, including regulation applications, site inspections, building safety levy charges, pre‑application advice, potentially dangerous structure reports and enforcement enquiries. ‑ Work closely with internal and external customers and coordinate with IT providers to maintain accurate computer records and prepare periodic data reports. ‑ Collaborate with colleagues in Building Control to address council projects and report directly to the Building Control Manager.

- An understanding of the role of a registered building inspector, the building safety regulator requirements, and demonstrable experience and knowledge in this specialist area.
- Strong knowledge of building control, regulatory issues and current legislation.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team, often to tight deadlines and on multiple work streams.
- Competitive salary, £46,142 to £50,269 per annum, dependent on experience.
