Job details

Trinity Primary School is seeking a compassionate, enthusiastic, and resilient Learning Support Assistant (SEMH) to join our dedicated team. This is an exciting opportunity to support young people in achieving their potential — academically, socially, and emotionally.

About the Role

As an SEMH Learning Support Assistant, you’ll work closely with teachers, the SENCo, and other professionals to support pupils with special educational needs. You’ll help create a nurturing environment where every child feels valued, supported, and inspired to succeed.

Your work will be varied — no two days are the same! You’ll be:

  • Supporting pupils’
    educational, emotional, and behavioural
    development.
  • Promoting self-esteem, independence, and positive relationships
    .
  • Assisting in the delivery of personalised learning plans and EHCP targets
    .
  • Helping pupils engage fully in both mainstream and specialist settings
    .
  • Using approaches such as PACE, emotion coaching, and restorative conversations
    to support regulation and wellbeing.
  • Delivering and supporting interventions including ELSA, Sounds-Write, sensory activities, and small-group work.
  • Liaising with families and professionals to ensure consistent support.
  • Has a caring, patient and empathetic nature.
  • Can remain calm and positive in challenging situations.
  • Believes in inclusive education
    and helping every pupil thrive.
  • Is a strong team player with good communication skills.
  • Is willing to learn — with opportunities for ongoing training and development
    .
  • (Ideally) has experience or training in supporting children with SEMH or additional needs.

What We Offer

  • A warm, inclusive and supportive school community.
  • Comprehensive induction and CPD opportunities
    .
  • The chance to work alongside a dedicated, experienced team.
  • A role that makes a genuine difference — every single day.
